The Greenlee 645-002 is a cobalt steel pilot drill bit engineered for use with Greenlee 645-002 arbors in the 2-3/8 IN to 3 IN range, making it the go-to choice for electricians drilling clean, accurate holes through steel panels, enclosures, and junction boxes on the job site. The 5/16 IN split-point tip bites into metal immediately — no centre punch required — and resists walking on curved or painted surfaces so your hole lands exactly where you need it. Cobalt steel construction delivers superior heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS bits, keeping the drill sharp through repeated use in tough materials.
